I AM FERNANDO KITTTRELL.

PASTOR | COUNSELOR | SPEAKER | AUTHOR |COACH

For far too long, people have felt forced to choose between faith and mental health—as if pursuing therapy means you lack faith, or trusting God means you shouldn’t seek help. I exist to break that false divide. Through The Ministry of Mental Health, I’m building a bridge between biblical truth and clinical care—so you don’t have to choose.

I’m Fernando Kittrell, a Board-Certified Pastoral Counselor (BCPC #979), Qualified Mental Health Professional, and life coach with over 30 years of experience in pastoral ministry, counseling, and leadership development. I help adults, adolescents, and faith leaders confront emotional struggles, trauma, burnout, and identity issues with compassion, clarity, and Christ-centered care.

I created The Ministry of Mental Health because I’ve seen firsthand how emotional wounds, spiritual confusion, and unhealed trauma keep people stuck—especially in the faith community. I know what it means to lead others while silently suffering. And I know that healing doesn’t come by choosing between a mental health professional and a pastor. Sometimes, you need both. That’s where I come in.

I offer a safe, unshockable, and judgment-free space where you can confront what’s hurting, rediscover your worth, and take steps toward wholeness. Whether you’re a pastor, a parent, or a professional—if you’re tired of feeling stuck—I want to help you emerge, transform, and thrive.

I bring both spiritual insight and academic excellence to every client session:

  • Doctoral Student – Ed.D. in Education & Traumatology, Liberty University

  • M.A. in Human Services Counseling & Life Coaching

  • B.A. in Psychology & Life Coaching

  • Board Certified Pastoral Counselor (BCPC #979)

  • Qualified Mental Health Professional (VA) (QMHP)

My approach blends faith-based guidance, trauma-informed strategies, and practical tools for healing. I believe emotional health is spiritual health—and both matter deeply to God.

FROM STUTTERER TO PUBLIC SPEAKER

As a kid, I suffered from stuttering, anxiety and everything else that associated itself with it.  I was teased at times which created more esteem issues.  My esteem issues traveled with me to the US Army and hindered me from pursuing opportunities.  I yet stuttered but I hid it well by not speaking as much.  I wanted so desperately to walk in confidence and boldness.

In 1991, freedom came when I felt inspired to get up on the New York City bus and share about God.  I asked the bus driver if I could share something about God on the bus and expressed with eagerness for me to do so.  I got up and shared a two minute message and sat down.  It was that moment while sharing a 2-3 minute message that my stuttering left me and a confidence and hope filled my heart, thus my journey began and evolving into The Mental Health Pastor; helping others dismantle mental health barriers.
